IPL was founded by Prof. Hitendra Wadhwa, Professor of Practice at Columbia Business School.
We are a team of professionals who are passionate about Personal Leadership and who come from organizations like BCG, McKinsey and Deloitte Consulting, with academic training from institutions like Columbia, MIT, Wharton and Yale, with valuable experience in executive roles, coaching, leadership development, strategy consulting, media and digital platforms.
Hitendra Wadhwa is Founder and CEO of the Institute for Personal Leadership. He is also Professor of Practice at Columbia Business School, where he teaches MBA and Executive Education courses on Personal Leadership, Strategy Consulting Skills, and Marketing Strategy. He consults with and provides executive training at a number of organizations, and his recent clients include American Express, Bayer, Best Buy, Estee Lauder, Godrej Group, JP Morgan Chase, Pfizer, S&P, SAP. Prof. Wadhwa is the recipient of Columbia Business School’s Lear Award, and the Most Dynamic and Engaging Professor Award from the Columbia Marketing Association. In the past, he has been a Consultant at McKinsey & Company, and the Founder and CEO of Paramark, a technology startup that was twice recognized as one of the top 100 Internet Technology companies by Technologic Partners/Venture Wire. Petra Hoehn Nemeth oversees IPL's content and brand strategy as well as its partner initiatives. She has built integrated, cross-platform brands in her roles as President of This Old House Ventures, Executive Vice President and Head of U.S. Operations of Bertelsmann Corporate Network and VP Television of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. Rod McCowan serves as Senior Faculty with the Institute for Personal Leadership and Guest Lecturer at Columbia Business School. Rod is also Founder and Principal of the Accelerance Group, a strategic advisory and executive coaching firm that helps visionary CEOs and leadership teams build innovative and high-performing organizations that drive dramatic impact. Rod spent most of his early career leading complex, large-scale organizational performance improvement and turnaround efforts, alternating between global CHRO, strategy consulting, and international general management roles at Herman Miller, Inc., Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, and VeriSign, Inc. President Bush (41) selected Rod as a White House Fellow, and President Clinton appointed him as the Assistant Secretary of Education for the Office of Management in the U.S. Department of Education. Julie Hussain serves as Director of Business Development and Associate Faculty at IPL. In addition to her business development responsibilities, she provides training at a number of organizations, and her recent clients include Unilever and the Eleanor Roosevelt Leadership Center. She also provides executive coaching to our online program participants. Prior to joining IPL, she worked at Deloitte Consulting LLP in their Human Capital group as a senior consultant and at the Corporate Executive Board as an associate director of research. Derrick Huang serves as Associate Faculty at IPL. Derrick comes with 15+ years of work experience in Management Consulting, Venture Capital, and Software Development. He has worked with McKinsey & Company as a consultant, leading initiatives on War Gaming, Competitive Intelligence, and Strategic Decision-making; served clients in the Mobile/Telecom, Hi-tech/Consumer Electronics, and Healthcare/Pharmaceutical sectors. Over the last several years, he has developed and delivered training programs in Disciplined Innovation, Strategic Decision-making, and Digital/Mobile strategy for both large corporate and entrepreneurial audiences. Unnati Narang serves as Director of Marketing and Communications at IPL. An alumnus of Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi and Delhi School of Economics, Unnati has worked with various organizations such as Times of India, Hindustan Times and the Reserve Bank of India. She has written extensively on themes based on HR, Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Career Development.
